How do we move meditation off the cushion and into our busy urban lives? True insight—vipassana—is not about escaping the world, but waking up to it.
Grounded in the original teachings of early Buddhism (Theravada), this 6-week foundational course unlocks the practical tools needed to steady your mind, open your heart, and navigate the modern world with clarity.
Over six weeks, we will explore the core pillars of the Satipatthana Sutta (the Buddha's framework for mindfulness) with a heavy emphasis on integration. You will learn to cultivate a friendly, gentle attention that transforms how you commute, work, converse, and rest. We will explore and practice mindful awareness in all postures and activities, paying attention to the feeling tone of each moment of experience and how we relate to things that may be pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. You may find that there is an increasing sense of freedom that results from not being as governed by impulse, habit, reactivity, and the stories you create about yourself and others.
Each week there will be ongoing practices and reflections, and in each class there will be time for meditation, sharing, and connection.
Meditation is more than a formal daily habit—it is a continuous way of being. Join us to cultivate a mind less burdened by reactive patterns and mental stories.
This course is suitable for practitioners of any level of experience. Classes will include time for practice, talks, guidance from the teacher, and plenty of time for sharing and Q&A. There will be home practice assignments each week to support you in establishing and/or sustaining your practice.
