Mondays, September 15th, 22nd, 29th, and October 6th from 9:30 am - 11:30 am ET.
In today’s climate of “fake news” and “alternative facts” the idea of the Buddha’s teaching on the Four Noble Truths might raise doubts. Are these just something else we are asked to believe? These teachings can be reframed as the Four Ennobling” Truths - teachings that as we investigate them in our lives and practice and realize them can lead to complete freedom.
Oh, freedom - now there is a word that is used a lot in the present moment! The freedom the Buddha spoke of, however, is not the freedom to do whatever we want, following our every emotional desire. Rather - this freedom that is cultivated is the freedom from our habitual emotional reactions and obsessions. As Ajahn Sumedho taught: “Our practice is not to follow the heart; it is to train the heart.”
Interested? As the Buddha said: Ehi passiko - come and see for yourself.
Each class will include practice, instruction and talks, as well as group dialogue and inquiry. There will be ongoing practice assignments each week.
